The 2014 IES Illumination Awards Are Looking For Bright Designers

Interior designers and s in the field of lighting are invited to submit their work to the 2014 IES Illumination Awards.

Winning the Award of Excellence is a major achievement and recognition for anyone devoted to pioneering lighting systems.

Previous award winners and honorable mentions of the IES Illumination Awards include designers responsible for lighting up Disney’s Aulani Resort, the Tokyo Bridge and the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

To enter the 2014 competition, this year’s entrants can submit their designs in one of the five following award categories:

  • The Lighting Control Innovation Award

Judges will look for projects with advanced lighting control systems that save energy, while providing additional benefits.

  • The Edwin F. Guth Memorial Award for Interior Lighting Design

The award for “interior lighting projects that balance the functional illumination of space with the artistic application of light to enhance the occupant’s experience.”

  • The Outdoor Lighting Design Award

A free-form award that values lighting systems with creative solutions, aesthetics and innovations regarding outdoor environments.

  • The Aileen Page Cutler Memorial Award for Residential Lighting Design

This one goes to the designers that balance traditional and unconventional lighting techniques in the home.

  • The Energy and Environmental Design Award

Energy efficient and environmentally friendly lighting projects for commercial and industrial buildings.

Entries have to be made before February 14, 2014. The submission fee is $100.
